SCRIPT
I have integrated many different technologies throughout my course work. Examples of technologies would be Google Docs, iMovie, Weebly, Voice Memos, Google Drawings, Photoshop CC 2020, and Youtube. I used Google Docs to write out my CCRS and all of the components required in my magazine because my work was easily edited on google docs, and was automatically saved on its own. It also helped me check for spelling errors. In terms of CCrs, i used google docs to write out all of my scripts. I also made a lot of notes and checklists on google docs, which then helped me achieve and complete my tasks in the end. I also used google docs to write out my sell lines, anchorage texts and my double page spread article. Working on google docs allowed me to work from multiple locations such as working at school and at home and to constantly update ideas depending on the research I continued to collate. In this project, I briefly used Google drawings as I only used them to annotate around my magazine analyses for my research. This allowed me true freedom with where to put my words and thoughts around an image. For my CCrs, I used iMovie and Voice Memos the most. I used Voice Memos on my macbook air to record my voice for my scripts. I then used iMovie to compile everything together and to edit all of the videos and voice recordings. I used i movie as i have previous experience with it, meaning that i was much more aware of the options provided on this application and personally, i found it much more easier to use than other applications such as Premiere Pro. I needed to use this multi-platform effect to ensure that my ideas were clearly communicated. I also needed to ensure the quality hence why I chose to use a program I was familiar with over one I was not. Another software that i used a lot was Photoshop CC 2020. I used photoshop to make my front cover, contents page and double page spread article. I used this application as it made my work look professionally done. Most magazines companies of basically any genre use photoshop as it makes their magazines look professional and helps to target their audiences. It also allowed me to add layers of different elements such as text, secondary images and backgrounds. In terms of the uses and gratifications theory, magazine readers get inspired by their idol celebrities and will buy products and try out new styles, of the celebrities recommendations. In terms of starting out with photoshop, I was kind of rusty at the beginning as it had been a long time since I used photoshop for my editing work, and I usually like to use apps such as Picsart and Imovie on my iPhone XR or my Ipad Mini 4. I found using photoshop quite tricky as I didn't have much experience in-depth editing of photos. As a warm-up for photoshop, I picked out a random photo from my iPhone, uploaded it onto my laptop and decided to play around on photoshop with it. I played around with the brush tool, lasso tool. I practised how to airbrush, rotate images, copy cut and paste, rescale duplicating layers etc. The reason why I decided to use photoshop was that it is professional software that makes editing much easier and personal. It also helped me achieve the required codes and conventions of my magazine front cover contents page and double-page spread. I also used photoshop to edit my model’s skin and to edit the lighting used in the photo. This was done to bring out the model's facial features and for the magazine to look as professional as possible. Another technology that I used was the website Weebly. I used Weebly as my online blog, where I uploaded all of my coursework. It was easy for me to use as I had previously had an online blog on Weebly for my media GCSE coursework. Weebly is quite easy to use due to the way it has been laid out and how all of the tools and options can be seen on the left side of the page, neatly and clearly. Weebly has helped me see how much progress I've made and what improvements I have made to my coursework. Weebly allowed my teachers to give me feedback, by contacting me via the contacts page. I used other technologies such as google and youtube for research purposes.I used google to research my production work and different theories and media language, to apply them to my production work. I also used google to research different magazine front covers, which I then deeply analysed.I was careful when researching online to ensure the content found was both accurate and precise. i used youtube tutorials to learn methods on applications such as photoshop, picsart etc. After watching the tutorials on youtube, I would then perform the tasks and complete my work. I also sued google to upload my CCR’s 1,2,3 and 4. Although it did a long time for the videos to upload. I also used Google Slides to represent this CCR, which is CCR question 4 I have also used the British school muscat computers and graphic tablets for practising my photoshop skills. I have also used their Media Studio to take test shots and practice poses for my magazine. For my CCrs, I used an application on my phone called VlogEasy, to record my voice and youtube to upload my final videos. I have also used the British school muscat computers for practising my photoshop skills when I was at school. when I was working at home and needed to do work on my blog I used my laptop, which is my Macbook Air 13” Retina Display laptop and my Ipad mini 4 for editing.. I used my laptop to use Voice Memos and iMovie for the production of my CCRS. This helped with time efficiency as I was able to upload my work on time, from different places. I have also used my Nikon Coolpix B700 Camera and my iPhone Xr for photography. I used the British School Muscat Graphic tablets to design the front cover layouts for my magazine. This helped me try out different layout styles and to pick one that went well with my theme and met the codes and conventions of a fashion magazine. I mainly used the graphic tablet on photoshop, as it allowed me to play around with different tools on the application. In terms of lighting, I used a ring light for my third and final photoshoot. I was running out of time as my deadline was getting closer and closer, so I decided to do my third and final photoshoot in my bedroom. I used a ring light with the white light setting. I used my wall as the background, as it was plain white, meaning that i could add the required background later on when i would edit the photos on Photoshop. I had initial issues with this due to my glasses but experimented with position and took advice to reduce the effect of this. Overall, my use of technology has grown greatly and I have a lot more confidence with the various programs I used such as photoshop.
